About.
AN HOLISTIC APPROACH.
“My whole life has pointed to a career in music theatre.”
Taylor is a Tony Award™ nominated Sound Designer (2023 Best Sound Design of a Play with Jonathan Deans for Ain’t No Mo’) who has worked on over 30 Broadway musicals and tours, including big productions such as Moulin Rouge, Beetlejuice, Frozen, The Lion King, King Kong, and Be More Chill, among others. He participated in three back-to-back Grammy Award™ winning albums for best musical theatre (Hamilton, The Color Purple with Cynthia Erivo, and Dear Evan Hansen).
He found his passion for theatre in San Diego, CA as a performer in school and community productions. At the age of 14 he was given a copy of a popular MIDI sequencer and he’s been marrying the worlds of theatre and music technology ever since. After attending American University in DC as a Music Theatre Performance major, Taylor moved to New York City where he continues to work as a sound designer, composer, music producer and arranger, and electronic music designer.
This diverse background allows him to approach all creative choices with a broad wealth of knowledge and experience. He’s had the pleasure of working with several illustrious artists, such as Lin-Manuel Miranda, Heather Headley, Lebo M, Will Wells, Baz Luhrmann and Catherine Martin, Pentatonix, Gloria Estefan, Sara Bareilles, The Who, and Sam Smith.

WHAT I BRING.
01. COMPOSITION
Taylor is constantly writing new music for theatrical projects such as John Wilkes Booth: One Night Only! by Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner, as well as for web series such as At Home With Rhinestone Gorilla and Pigeon Food. He has also composed for political campaigns, and intends to release some of his standalone songs in the near future.
02. SOUND DESIGN
In addition to creating unique soundscapes, recreations of classic sounds, and exciting sound effects, Taylor has had the pleasure of working as Sound Designer in China, New York, and in theaters around the country. Productions include Ain’t No Mo’ on Broadway, Mozart L’Opéra Rock in China, A Driving Beat and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf at Flint Repertory Theatre, Oh Happy Day and Matthew Weiner’s John Wilkes Booth: One Night Only! at Baltimore Center Stage, and Duke & Roya at the historic Lucille Lortel Theatre in NYC.
03. ARRANGEMENT & ORCHESTRATION
A true enthusiasm for rich musical textures, access to some of the finest minds in orchestration of the last 30 years, and a curiosity for figuring out how stuff works has helped Taylor to become a self-taught arranger. He has created orchestrations for an updated Megamix of Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat at The Muny, The Stephen Schwartz Project as well as Chriskirkpatrickmas at London’s Seven Dials Playhouse and Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

MATURE PERSPECTIVE.
Constantly listening. Constantly watching. Constantly learning.
SENSIBLE APPROACH.
Taylor has had the pleasure of attending Ableton’s Loop conference in Berlin and in LA to improve his command of Live and Max4Live and to forge connections in the electronic music community. He has championed Isaac Haywards CueQueue software, which is now used on several musical productions worldwide. He has participated in online writing groups to continue to hone his craft as a composer, and was a key participant in the Local 802/AFM Electronic Music Committee, laying the groundwork for the glossary used to define electronic music within the union. He is continuously familiarizing himself with the most recent software, sample libraries, virtual synthesizers, and FX plugins to remain on the cutting edge of sound and music design. Most significantly he takes in art both within and outside of the theatrical context in a continual search for inspiration and uplift.
